We're really pleased that the attention was on one of our favourite acts, Shazia Mirza, who performed a stunning comedy set alongside singers Kate Nash, Vivi Brown, Annie Lennox and Paloma Faith at the EQUALS LIVE concert at the Royal Festival Hall on Friday 11th March. We always knew the girl could handle this kind of fame!

Sad that we couldn't go ahead with our own mixed bill show at KOKO on 8th March as originally planned, we threw in our lot with the EQUALS coalition to support this bumper night of entertainment.  See what the print media have to say about it here:

It's interesting to see four great singers perform one after the other but the mood could have been lightened even more with some great comedy including sketch, musical comedy, impressions and extra stand up.  We have a wealth of great female comics on the circuit now and we want to see them celebrated in the same way as female singers and musicians.  We're already plotting for next year… our Pan Asian comedy showcase set the trend at the WOW festival so do let us know if you want us to curate even more comedy showcases.

In the meantime, there is a serious message to go all with this.  Join the debate at www.weareequals.com and check us out if you want to become more confident and outspoken by signing up for one of our Stand Up to Stand Out workshops.  We women need our voices to be heard – take inspiration from the clip of Annie Lennox speaking with passion on 8th March.
